Low Moisture Carpet Cleaning Facts

Low moisture carpet cleaning works very well on commercial or low profile (pile) carpets. It’s eco-friendly by using less power and water. Carpets are usually dry within the hour. It is a lot quicker than traditional hot water extraction (steam clean) and uses a special encapsulation detergent. Hardly any noise which is a plus for businesses or care homes. This carpet cleaning method is relatively new and many customers doubt how effective it is. Take it from me it does work well and is especially useful for a freshen up or interim clean.

How To Low Moisture Carpet Clean

The first step is crucial. The carpet must be vacuumed extra carefully to remove as much dry soil and particles as possible. The encapsulation detergent is then made up and put in a pressure sprayer. The carpet is sprayed and allowed to dwell. I then prefer to brush to carpet with a rotary floor cleaner, fitted with a carpet brush, and a tank with more encapsulation cleaner. So this I call a carpet shampoo.

The final step is to lift as much moisture and soil with special bonnet pads on the rotary cleaner. Job done! The carpet will be slightly damp and looking clean with a fresh smell. Any remaining soil is vacuumed away once the carpet is fully dry.

Encapsulation Carpet Cleaning Detergent

The encap that we use is as follows;

  • Liquid polymer crystallizing encapsulating non-ionic surfactant, leaves no sticky residue.
  • Oxi-Boost hydrogen, power of pure oxygen to remove stains and browning.
  • Patented built in odour neutraliser, leaves lovely fresh orange fragrance.
  • Copolymer stain guard, both to protect fibres and help keep them clean longer.
  • Neutral pH level, safe for most wool and all types of carpets.

Environmentally friendly encapsulation polymer that will crystallize and suspend soil for easy removal, added Oxi-boost to loosen protein based soil and remove browning, no rinsing required, leaves no sticky residue.

Patented odour neutraliser encapsulates odour compounds and changes their molecular structure, helps kill bacteria preventing re-occurrence leaving the area fresh and clean, helps eliminate odours associated with urine, faeces, food waste, pet smells and many more.

Built in Copolymer stain guard, micro coats fibres to further protect against damage, not only helps carpets and upholstery stay clean longer but makes them easier to clean and maintain.

DIY Low Moisture Carpet Cleaning

It is feasible that one can low moisture clean without special equipment. Example – when we do a low moisture clean on stairs we spray with the encap and then hand brush. The stairs always look clean and once dry the soil is vacuumed away.

So try it…….all you need is a new long handle broom with medium stiffness. Spray the carpet and brush in all directions until clean. Directions – Spray the entire carpet, allow to dwell for 10 minutes and then brush. Add more spray as needed for stains and traffic areas. Safe on many types of carpets including wool.
